Wedding Cake Ring

This is my Wedding Cake Ring. I made this ring when I was contemplating the meaning of connection. I was thinking about what it meant to connect with another person for a lifetime. I was thinking about doing it. I was thinking about weddings, and delicately decorated wedding cakes. I was thinking about all of the traditional elements of a wedding that make my skin crawl. I was thinking about all of the traditional elements of a wedding that make me cry in an instant. The Wedding Cake Ring is made of two layers of enameled copper. I silk-screened the enamel to achieve the delicate patterns. I have riveted the enameled disks onto a textured band of sterling silver.

  1. Those patterns are very neat. Really interesting to read about the thoughts that went behind the work. I see the light and dark disks representing the positive and the negative thoughts around the subject.
